Ford originally based the Ford Mustang on the platform of the North American compact car, the Ford Falcon. Ford started developing the Mustang in 1962 calling it the Ford Mustang I. It was going to be a two-seater concept until they decided to go with the four-seater to see how well the public will take to the Mustang. In 1963, the Ford Mustang II was born and went on the market in 1964. In 1965, Ford hit it out of the ballpark with the creation of the 1965 Mustang making it the most successful year the legendary automaker has had since the Model A.

New Body Style, New Ford Mustang Car Cover

Ford has undergone many changes throughout the abundance of years they have been in production. From the 60’s Fastback to the fox body style, to going back to the Fastback look in 2005, perhaps the biggest redesign took place in 1994 with the fourth-generation Mustang. It was debuted in 1993 and counted as the first paramount redesign in fifteen years after the fox body style reigned starting in the late 70’s. This was the first period since 1974 that you couldn’t find a hatchback coupe model.

The designer, Patrick Schiavone used several styling originalities from earlier generation Mustangs to incorporate into the fourth-generation, but in 1999, everything was shaken up with Ford’s New Edge theme. The chassis, interior design, and other basic specs remained the same, but sharper contours, larger wheel arches, and added flare to the bodywork were added in the new design. Under the Hood, That’s Under the Ford Mustang Car Cover

The base model in 1994 came with a 3.8 OHV V6 that produced 145 hp. The 1996 model came with an added 5 hp and a standard 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 4-speed automatic transmission. Ford discontinued the 302 cid pushrods small block V8 after being used in the 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra, GT, and GTS and used for the past 30 years before that. It was replaced with the newer Modular 4.6 Liter SOHC V8 in the 1996 Mustang GT. It started out rated at 215 hp, but by 1998 the hp was bumped to 225 hp. This style remained to dominate until 2004 when they went back to the Fastback model in 2005. Keep your Ford Mustang protected with a Ford Mustang car cover.
