2018 Hyundai Kona is a subcompact SUV. Hyundai Kona is the first of its kind from Hyundai and is expected to compete with the likes of Jeep Renegade, Mazda CX-3 and more. This vehicle is built on a completely new platform and looks a bit funny. It will likely attract the same customer base that likes Nissan Juke, Kia Soul and other hipster vehicle.

Exterior
The 2018 Hyundai Kona looks strikingly different than most subcompact SUVs we are familiar with. The design is very vivid and expressive: a chunky body that shapes around the wheel and meshes into the front and rear bumpers. The semi-floating roof looks good, but could have been executed a bit better. The cascading grille treatment lifts its exterior a bit but lacks refinement. Hyundai Kona will be available in several strikingly bright colors and caters toward active, urban lifestyles.

Interior
Hyundai Kona will offer a decent 18 cubic feet of cargo volume, which will almost double if you fold the rear seat. The simple, yet strong interior is quite attractive. A 7.0-inch touchscreen is standard and an 8.0-inch is available. The retractable, head-up screen is both futuristic and neat. Seamless integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is offered, so is a 4G Wifi connectivity, other safety and convenience features include: blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, emergency braking, automatic high beam, lane-keeping assistance, a driver-attention monitor and more.

Under the Hood
The preproduction 2018 Hyundai Kona featured a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine at 175 horsepower. However, the standard engine is going to be a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder at 147 horsepower. The better of the two engine is coupled with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and a six-speed automatic transmission goes with the other variant. All-wheel drive will be offered as an option and the Kona rides on either 16-inch or 18-inch (optional) wheels.
